Forum ParticipantCanada Post new regulation is that we must first load the Zonos app on a cellphone, send them pics and description, they appraise the item and levy duties if there is any or a declaration of exemption. CP won’t take the package without that declaration. My phone is too old for the app, what we used to call a program.
There is no other option provided, they won’t help you figure out an alternative. Oh well. I’m wondering if the app gives you an appraised value, would be based on mostly ePay sales I imagine. I could get use of my son’s phone maybe, but want to know more about it first.
JohnEdit: I see now that Zonus Prepay, a web-based service is available for non-cellphone users. I don’t sell radios much, but have a few to give away or donate.
It is sure quiet here. It’s the wacky world of Canadian vintage radios, I guess.-

Brad WinderCVRS MemberJohn, I have used it. Wasn’t a great first experience, but I guess that’s how it goes as every process we knew for so long has been blown up and shredded.

Forum ParticipantThanks, Brad, I guess I was out of the loop and had to get educated, but postal employees have no idea how to help a greener.
I went home and tried Zonus on the laptop, because I’m phone illiterate.
Somehow produced a QR code, great, scanned it to mu old iPhone, back to the PO with my parcel,
she said there was a problem, maybe it was my picture, could I print it?
Back home, printed the QR code on paper, another post mistress tried to scan that, print size too big?, two of them went into the back and printed a smaller version, still couldn’t make it do what they said it would do, the QR code was not giving the declaration of duty exemption.
Turns out the software had produced a bogus code because I hadn’t completed all the information.*If you have a Canada Post business account*, you can use the website to produce the QR code.
Otherwise you must use the phone app only. To find this out I had to complete the registration forms and only after every section of those forms was completed, there is a question, Do you have a business account with Canada Post? If no, you are not qualified.
No wonder they have a rating of less than 2 out of 5.So step one is register for a business account with Canada Post, which is good idea anyway. Or buy a new phone that looks more like a tablet, oh well.
*If your phone is old, you don’t qualify*, can’t run the app. 🙂
