What is original finish on C.General Electric H70 radio ?

Hi all,
I am starting to restore a Canadian General Electric model H70 radio. The wood case is in Cherry wood color and the veneer is lifted in some areas.
Upon close inspection, it is not wood veneer but “Arborite” or “Formica” in Cherry wood color and black color trim. I can’t determine the age of this radio but I believe it is a late 1930’s or 1940’s
radio. If you have one like this, please check if yours is the same as mine, or you have the genuine wood veneer. Is “Arborite” even invented in the 1930’s or 1940’s ?

Hi Ken:
I have a C.General Electric G167 Radio with a wood case in Cherry wood color and the cherry wood veneer. But my wood and veneer is much darker than the radio you show in your picure. Am I wrong in thinking my wood is Cherry or could your radio be a lighter colour? I am brand new to this, so I bow to your experience!
