Forum ParticipantHi Guys,
I know this is a long shot, but I’ve been trading emails with a person a couple of hours from me who’s interested in finding knobs for a Marconi tombstone he has. He was thinking of selling the radio but I may have him convinced to keep it and restore it. He’s not a collector (yet) so has no idea except ebay, on where to look for knobs. I told him I’d post something here. Anyway, I’ve attached a link to a Radio Attic Archive link of what I believe are similar knobs on a Marconi model 81. If by chance anyone does have some to part with, I’ll put the two of you in touch. Thanks Guys.

CVRS MemberInteresting post. I just got a Marconi 81 Tombstone from a man who inherited it from his grandfather. It is original unmolested unrestored condition, and has what appears to me to be the original knobs. FYI, while I love radio attic, great resource, I wanted to let you know the knobs on their Model 81 Marconi are probably not correct. I will take a Picture and post it so you can see what the correct knobs look like. They are all wood, even though, due to round shape they remind me of some of the plascon zenith knobs. Don’t know if this will work, but I attached the file.

Forum ParticipantI looked at the link, it did work for me but I have a feeling those knobs are not the original ones, they look like aftermarket generic knobs and I think AES might carry them. I have a pretty good collection of knobs so if the correct ones are important, you may find a pic by googling and looking at ebay for similar radios and contact me. I would want to charge something reasonable to cover the time taken to find, and ship them though, so if you are happy with the AES ones that might be your cheapest route.
had a look at the AES Site, it appears they don’t have wooden knobs anymore.
I think I know who was supplying them though, they could still be available, I’ll check and put the two of you in contact if interested. -
