For those who may not have liked what I did to my Radiola III-A, here is my mostly-original Radiola III. Even the transformer was good, though the exterior was in bad shape when I got it. The only thing I replaced (so far) were the rubber socket support strips. I have UX4 to WD-11 adapters, so I can use 01As when I want to use it.
The WD-11s work and are in original boxes containing the technical specs. I don’t use the WD-11s though.

I am restoring a Magestic 1927 and just waiting for the 226 tube to come from ebay. I am hoping that is all it needs (open heater )and I have the original light socket optional power supply as well which appears now to be working after some repair.

It was missing the WD11 socket strips, and I figured trying to find them, along with the cost of tubes, wasn’t worth it. The set needed a lot of work. As it is right now, it can take 1A5 tubes (cheap!) and works well.
I can always go back and retrofit if I come across some extra strips some day, but in the meantime (since I’m not selling it or running a museum), I have a neat working mostly-original III-A.
I believe I got the adaptaters from Playthings of the Past.
Goog luck with the Majestic! It’s good the power supply works; I had to rebuild one in a Radiola 60 that took three transformers to supply all the various voltages and current draws.
January 30, 2015 at 5:48 am #6486Don K DulmageForum Participantthanks, I thought about putting miniture triodes inside the dead wd11 envelopes and I have put a fet and a red led inside a couple of 01As as well as once a 12ax7 parallel connected inside a 01A.
I should retest all my wd11 as I think not all are dead. The radiola is from my great grandmothers family which is also my wife’s great aunts family which we didn’t know 45 years ago when we got hitched so I would like to keep it for ever .
donJanuary 30, 2015 at 8:12 am #6488Rob UtheForum ParticipantDon: how are the transformers? If all three are good, you are very lucky! On mine, I had to fiddle with the output a fair bit to get a good match with the speaker.
I like the subminiature tube inside a WD11 envelope idea; Id rather use those than risk putting power to a working wd-11.
