Forum ParticipantI have inherited this radio phonograph combo, manufactured by Dominion Electrohome, model 162. The am radio works, not sure about the phonograph and shortwave. What can you tell me about this radio and what is it worth? Attached is a picture. Thanks. Ray

CVRS MemberHi Ray:
Somehow I missed your post. I just got an email from someone else regarding a related radio and so I was searching the forums and found this. The Electrohome model 162 is listed in the 1947-48 RCC schematics which should put the date of the set around 1946-47, I would guess. It uses the same chassis as the one I have, which I will attach the picture for. I’m not sure of the model number for the cabinet. I have no idea of the value – whatever someone will pay, I guess. I got mine free from someone who also inherited it and was looking for a good home for it.

CVRS MemberHi Ray:
Digging a little further, I am guessing that my set is model 154. If I am correct, your chassis should be a P5 4526, correct? The clue to the model seems to be the P#. Mine is P6, and 154 is the only model listed for a 6. Cabinet model 162, which you said is yours, is listed as P5.
Do you still have your set? Man, with a record player, no less! Hopefully, you do. I had given away all my cabinet radios as I moved recently and didn’t want to take them with me. Then after the move, someone offered me this one. It’s such a cute set, I couldn’t say no. 🙂 (And here I go again. lol )

Forum ParticipantYes I still have this set. May see if I can get the turntable working. I think it works but have to find a needle. Ray

LeeCVRS MemberThe best way to put a value on this would be to evaluate it as used furniture. I hate to say about a radio but a table radio like this has very few buyers. Most of the collectors out there are running out of room. I only have 2 console radios: a 10 tube Zenith, and a 12 tube Zenith. Paid $50 and $75 about 25 years ago. I did see a 1/2 round Zenith chair side for sale here in Victoria on usedvictoria for$150 about a year ago.It took several months to sell and I think it finally went for about $120. Now I regret not buying it;a very pretty table radio. Zenith often commands higher prices than other radios but at least it’s a place to start.Don’t know if this information is of any use but thanks for “listening.

Forum Participantthat isn’t just a radio or a radio and a phono it is a radio and a phono and a flat surface to stack more radios on 😉
it is cute. Yea it’s probably not hugely collectable but I’d say it has a lot more charm than just another boring box with radio and phono as it is a table. does the other drawer open?November 27, 2016 at 8:53 am #8266HolderAccount
Forum ParticipantThe other drawer does not open but I agree that it will be an interesting end table or furniture piece in the right room.
