Am a newbie restoring Viking EB1-4516 similar to Electrohome PB1-4516. It was a battery radio that haps been converted to ac power with add on transformer. The gang capacitor was jambed, capacitors replaced along with several and bad resistors and bare power cord . It will only work above 1000khz and statics as it moves below followed by silence. Various opinions are that issue is alignment, gang capacitor, transformer or oscillator tube. Any suggestions are appreciated

One end of capacitor fins distorted. Used a lot of time and a thin plastic strip to carefully straighten and all is fine. (Thanks to Dan Walker who just suggested that same solution using paper)
