Forum ParticipantHello all,
This is my first post so apologies if I’ve chosen the wrong forum.
I am a retired English guy who now lives in France. I collect old valve/tube radios and a few years ago bought via ebay a Rogers/Majestic Model 12/7. Although not referenced I think that the chassis No is 7R632. It has a UK label stating R.M. ELECTRIC LTD Majestic Works Oaklands Road London. Operating voltage 230v 25/50Hz. It has a magic tuning eye mounted on the case top and the unit is table top mounted and not a console type. So I can find no details specific to this presumably export model (or maybe it was manufactured in the UK). I think that the chassis was used on numerous models all wired differently. Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks,

CVRS MemberJohn, I looked at the schematic and there seems to be some differences.
Alan Boyles states that his radio has a tuning eye, and the schematics don’t show that.
Tt might be possible that there was a different UK model, especially with a voltage of 230 volts.
Alan,if we could see a photo it would help

CVRS MemberThe model number is not 12/7, it is 12/70 using the chassis 7M731
It has a magic eye 6X6, plus 2X3, 2X3 6F6M, 75M, 6K7M,6A7M.
The 2X3 were obsolete in 1948, if you need to replace them I have the modification instructions from Rogers.
If you need more documentation just say so.

CVRS MemberAs Daniel mentioned, this is likely the model 12-70. I have the Majestic 770 which uses the same chassis except the speaker is to the left of the dial. Schematic attached for the North American model and other than the 230V transformer that you have, this should get you going.

Forum ParticipantHello all,
Many thanks for your prompt and helpful replies. I’ve attached some photo’s as requested so you can see the radio in more detail. I’ve downloaded the schematics but can’t really find an exact match to the chassis layout. I’ve not actually taken it apart but can see a 6V6G output valve? and a 5Z4GT rectifier? as well as an EBC33. Three others are in metal cans to the front of the set.
As before thanks for any input and assistance.

CVRS MemberOne thing I did notice in the close up photo was the wires going to the speaker.
They probably should be looked at as they look like they might touch, and that is high voltage.
I have had three of these radios , but none had the eye tube. I also have never seen the EBC3 tube.
something new every day. I don’t know if that is a sub for a rogers tube????

CVRS MemberAlan,
Please ignore my above post. Your radio appears similar to the Canadian Rogers 12-61 and Majestic 761 and Deforest Albertan (which has an eye tube) but the chassis layout is slightly dissimilar. Yours also uses a 6BC3 as the detector tube where the Canadian version uses a 75M. Also someone may have previously replaced the 2 rectifier tubes with a 5Z4 although, that may have been a factory modification given your radio chassis tag would imply that it was made in the UK. To be honest I was not aware that any Rogers Majestic products were produced over there. The attached schematics are for the Canadian version of your radio but may be useful to get you started. Good luck.
Jim
