Old Marconi radio

Hi all;

A happy New Year to everyone.

A couple of years ago ( it has been in storage since – dry and warm ) I acquired an old Marconi radio. According to the Marconi service info, it is a model 49 or 51 and I do not have the expertise to tell which. It came in the cabinet shown. The holes for the controls appear to have been enlarged. My question is ” Is this a Marconi cabinet or did someone alter the control holes from a different radio to put this chassis in. ” I would appreciate any comments at all. I have not started to restore it and am actually wondering if it is going to be worth the work, especially if this is not the original cabinet.

Hi John
It almost looks like a Marconi Model 70. I restored one a few months back and it was a hoot to do.What does the Dial Face look like, does it have several lamps indicating what band the radio is set to? Sorry I can’t be of any more help.
