Hi Folks!
Let me start by giving you a bit of background about me.
My name is Mike and I recently started to collect vintage radios. At the moment I have a Fleetwood (Welltron) Robot head radio, a 1937 Volksempfänger VE301Wn, a 1946 Northern Electric Baby Champ 5000, and my most recent addition, a 1951 Lumitone. From what I can tell, this Lumitone is rarer than most. It appears to have been built under license by Brand and Millen here in Ontario. What is particularly unusual is the colour; every single Lumitone that I have seen is either creme or creme with a gold base, but my lamp has been painted a green hammertone colour. When I examine the interior of the lamp, I can’t see any evidence that it was any other colour. I would like to find out more about this curiosity and I was wondering if you by chance have any experience with this, or know of someone who does. There seems to be little info on the web about this interesting radio.
Thanks in advance,
Mike
Update: The Lumitone is finished! I’ve added some photos of the restoration. Cheers!
