A couple months ago I posted a WTB enquiry for a Rogers Majestic Chassis 28. In particular, I was looking for an antenna coil for a radio I was working on for a friend which had an open primary. Dan Walker quickly replied and very generously offered to send me the coil assembly from a chassis 73 which is a good substitute. As it turned out, the antenna coil that I received had suffered the same fate as the one I already had, appearing to be the result from some sort of power surge at the antenna, perhaps even a lightning strike. Fortunately, the assembly that Dan sent also had an RF coil and the primary in that coil seemed suitable to use in the antenna coil, so I gave it a try and it worked perfectly.
In addition to the open primary in the antenna coil, the wave trap had also disintegrated from the power surge, but I just bypassed that as it is no longer needed. I also had to replace the output transformer and volume control. Completely disassembled and cleaned, all new caps and resistors and 90% of the wiring replaced and it’s working great. Before and after photos below. Thanks again Dan.

Hi Jim
I am always happy to help some out that needs a part that I have and don’t need.
With all the new parts you put in the radio it looks very good and I hope it sounds as good.
It is like the guy who had the same axe for 6 years and only had two new heads and three new handles.
Nice job
