Hello Gary, I’m the coordinator of a group of volunteers who makes attempts at restoring (mainly hi-fi) electronics and saving them from oblivion. Any sort of significantly old radio we are pleased to pass along to one of the local Museums here for potential display. It’s worth noting that here in Winnipeg over the last 15-20 years, nearly a dozen electronics repair shops have either gone out of business or have had their owners retire and there is no one out there stepping in to replace them. What’s it like for the electronics scene for you out there in Regina?

I can’t really comment on the state of the radio hobby in Regina as I only moved here 4 months ago from Montreal. What I have noticed is there is very little available Tube radio wise to purchase due to the small population base. More people live on the island of Montreal than in the Province of Saskatchewan! I have managed to find some cool old radios from time to time and have gathered enough of a backlog to get me through the long cold Winter. Hobby seems to be in decline as when stuff does come up for sale, it’s usually because someone has passed and there seems to be very little interest in old radios by anyone below 40 years of age. Not aware of any radio repair shops or even anyplace that sells tubes. have had to go with Pacifictv for tubes etc.Gary
