Priceless vintage antique radio / phonograph Measures 36 high, 27 wide, 17 deep Serial Number 37841 Is a combination radio/phonograph set, designed and produced in 1929, just as RCA was preparing to purchase The Victor Talking Machine Company. It was one of the last products to be engineered and produced by Victor. Both walnut and mahogany finishes were available (this one is walnut). Approximately 108,000 RE-45’s were produced in 1929 and 1930. It sold new for $275.00. 6 tube TRF neutrodyne AM-tuner, with separate 4-tube amplifier, electrodynamic speaker and Electrola Record Player. Tuner: 5-stage Tuned Radio-Frequency (TRF) tuner Amplifier: Model 245, 15 Watt transformer coupled push-pull amp. Cabinet: Walnut lowboy console, carved front plate, 2 hinged doors. Dials and knobs: illuminated curved celluloid vernier slide rule dial, 3 wooden knobs, on/off switch, separate volume control knob for Electrola Kept in a smoke free environment The unit has not been refinished or refurbished but has almost all of its original parts. Legs have been removed but with some work they could be reattached. Has not been plugged in for many, many years so cannot guarantees that it works. It is a beautiful piece of radio history that has been in my family since new! Would like to sell as a complete unit but would entertain offers on individual pieces of the radio/phonograph.

Very nice radio and it would be a crying shame to see it parted out in my opinion.March 25, 2020 at 7:09 am #13537
I agree, that is why my preference is to sell to someone who can restore it, all components, tubes, etc. are present. Not often you find something close to 100 years old!March 25, 2020 at 7:45 am #13538Dan WalkerCVRS Member
I have had a R 32,a RE75 and a 45 , and they all have very good sound.
I don’t know what the added knob in the center of yours is for .
Someone added a switch for some reason..
I do have a replacement front wood panel that I won’t need
