Will try to finish this one before xmas. The coils and inter stage transformers check out ok and the main controls work but need to be cleaned. A bit of rust needs to go as well. I already have a multi output battery eliminator that I can use and just have to check my stock of 01A tubes to find some good ones! The grid leak resistor is at about 8 megs so I will have to put in the proper value of around 2 or 3 megs.

Hopefully I will have success with this one since I plan on using it quite a bit. Worst case is having one of the inter stage transformers fail over time but there are a couple of ways to fix that….

Removed the front panel and filament control assembly on this weekend. Will have to open up the filament control assembly to clean the rheostat wires and will then start working on connecting the power supply connections…everything seems to be ok so far.

I managed to get this radio up and running last night after doing a thorough cleaning of the filament control pots and tube sockets ( wow they were dirty…). I tested some of my stash of 01A tubes and selected some of the ST type since they tested very strong compared to some of the older balloon styles. I temporarily connected the power connections using clip lead wires and an old NE high impedance horn driver and it powered up on the first try.

My radio room is in the basement and even with just a 10 foot antenna wire strung along my storage shelves it managed to pick up a station about 80 miles away…all local stations came in loud and clear…quite amazing for this age and design of radio.

I will be cleaning it up in the next few weeks and putting the chassis back in its wooden box and might try it with my RCA 100A speaker.
