I somehow aquired a big philco tombstone cabinet. . The cabinet is unusually large for a tombstone. the case is beautiful and it has the escutheon/glass, but I never got the chassis. I went hunting on ebay and bought a console and had him ship me just the chassis and speaker hoping I could now piece it together.
When It arrived I realized it isn’t the same. the chassis will fit the cabinet, lower knobs are spaced right, but to line up the dial and the upper tuning shaft I think I need to lift the tuning dial by an inch or so.
It is mounted on sort of a similar little chassis so it doesn’t seem like it’s impossible. I might just be able to make some stand offs where the grommets fit. I am wondering if it’s worthwhile or maybe I would just introduce too much interference by modifying it’s position in relation to the chassis. It has the shadowgraph indicator.

I think maybe the chassis I have is a 37-650 and the cabinet really wanted a slightly different chassis maybe a 37-690? Im having difficulty remembering chassis numbers but could check further and include some photos. It’s quite a high end philco so I figured it was worth a little time with the restoration but I m unsure if I should just make what I have fit or try to find the correct chassis.
