A Peachbird and a Red Star Restored

Just finished restoring two quite different radios, a 1935/36 American Sparton Model 566 ‘Peachbird’ and a 1954 Russian Zvezda-54 ‘Red Star’. Restoration of the Peachbird was similar to the restoration of the US and Canadian Bluebirds that I detailed in a series of articles in 2017 and 2018 issues of our Newsletter ‘Canadian Vintage Radios’. Repair of the Russian radio was a very interesting job to see how a French radio was redesigned by the Russians during the Cold War – I will be writing an article on the project to send to Gerry O’Hara, our editor of the Newsletter.
