Purchased this model the other day, it’s missing the “Northern Electric” insignia located between the 2 knobs, looks like it may have been held by speed clips. any help or leads would be appreciated.
I have the identical radio. On mine there are raised letters between the two knobs – these are not attached in any way, they are molded on the radio. If you look at the different images of this model at radiomuseum.org you’ll see some slight differences in how the words Northern Electric appear on this model.
hmmmm….here is a pic of my radio….clearly shows the lettering busted off and just the middle part of the name still there, notice the holes on the other side of the insignia? to me they are attached via pegs in the lettering and secured with speed clips, although i have not took the chassis out of the case to look for sure, just had knee surgery and cannot get around very well yet.
I took out the chassis today, and no speed clips, therefore the lettering was glued on, I guess if nobody has the original lettering i will get a decal as per Pat’s suggestion.
I don’t’ think I have that radio but I think all you need is to find someone that does and that would be willing to take a Plasticine imprint off of their radio and send it to you , then you could just fill the mold with JB weld and then fit the surface to the cabinet and use a little more JB weld to stick it to the cabinet. Just hold it to the cabinet with masking tape until dry. that way it would be 3D and not a label.
