    Hello,

I’m reaching out to your organization to inquire about restoration needs of a radio machine my friend owns. It’s a Westinghouse Model 780 as seen in this link. The machine turns on, but hasn’t been used in years. He’s taking the machine from his father, however none of us have much experience/knowledge of the functionality of such machine.

From a brief discussion with him, he mentioned that these radios could pick up radio signals from around the world. After playing around with it for a few minutes, we couldn’t figure out how it works, nor could figure out how to set it to pick up any signals. He claims that last year he played with it a little, and was able to pickup signals from Cuba.

I’m reaching out to ask for guidance regarding the usage of such machine — and if any restoration / tuning needs to be performed. I also wanted to ask if there’s any professionals you could refer in the Montreal, Quebec, Canada region which we could reach out to for tuning/restoration/modernization needs (I’ve seen some videos on Youtube where some people retrofitted such machines to support iPhones and other devices). If it was to be done, what would be estimated costs?

    Looking forward to hearing back.

    Cheers,

    Michal

    Hello Michal
Here is a schematic for your radio, don,t run that set any more, you need to
change the large capacitors at least after all this time,if not you could do
some damage to the set,if you have done some work on radios before I am sure
the members could help guide you along, all the best Rick
