So the tuning eye in my 1937 RCA was very dim, a common problem I understand, but it did work opening & closing on tuning.
    Here’s what it looked like … https://www.dropbox.com/s/xgtwd1ycyzk065p/RCA%209K1.mp4?dl=0

I ordered a replacement and while it is much brighter, it does not open and close with tuning.

Is this the symptom of a bad 1 Meg resistor in the eye? Or did I get a bad replacement tube?

    Thanks

Check the 1 meg resistor…they usually drift up in value and if so then the eye will not respond to tuning/AVC voltage changes…and double check your RF alignment to make sure it is optimal.
