Just completed thus Philco. Started it before Christmas ,but got sidetracked with other things. I thought it odd that they used 3 strips of shiny brass on 3 sides of the of the dial lens (sides and bottom).
Seemed like a waste of money in a product which was built to a price point. But when I turned it on for the first time I found there purpose. The light from the dial lamp reflects off them , back on to the Metaloid dial face ,and gives it the warmest golden glow I have ever seen in a vintage radio. See the last photo to see what I mean. ( Even this photo doesn’t do it justice, it looks even better in real life)
