If CA is Central Alberta, I might have something for you.
I have an early S-40A with the 80 rectifier and the large transformer cans that are not so susceptible to the dreaded silver mica problem.
It had been partially re-capped before I bought it – probably to get it working so the previous owner would buy it. I finished the recap and changed out a few out of tolerance resistors and the open resistor for the tone control so the radio now works well. I checked the alignment and tweaked it a bit so it performs like new. Power cord replaced with a 3 prong. All original tube line up with the audio final a 6V6 rather than a 6F6 – – if I can locate the 6F6 will include it as well. I like the 6V6 as it sounds a bit better to my ears. Case and dials are all good – probably not all the correct knobs but all there and everything works. Have electronic copies of manuals and schematics.
I am in the Red Deer area. Let me know if you are interested.
