This is a Rogers 8R723 console, and I just finished redoing it .
It has the 6X6 eye tube which works but is a little dim.
The cabinet came out good and the photos show it to be lighter than it really is.
Sometimes you can recap a radio and there is no hum after you are done, and other times you just can’t seem to get rid of the hum.
Well this time i got lucky and there is no hum.
I hope you guys enjoy the photos.. Am I the only one who posts photos of the radio that have had the cabinet done?

Thanks for the comments.
I don’t think it would be worth driving from Edmonton to Calgary to look at that radio,
as it is a basic Rogers radio. The main thing it has going for it as far as we are concerned, is, it has the 6X6 eye tube.
The tube is a little dim, but I might boost the plate voltage to brighten it up [ if i keep the radio]
So far I counted 16 consoles in my garage , 8 in the basement, and three in the dinning room and living room, so I don’t have a lot of room, and I keep looking at more radios.
I am like the guy that his doctor says he is suffering from kleptomania but I am going to take something for it.

Hi Dan,
Ah yes, that garage and basement brimming with consoles problem is familiar to me. However, since I moved (downsized) I have somehow managed to have zero consoles in the garage(!), zero consoles in the basement (as we only have a crawlspace now), and – the biggest ‘miracle’ of all – six consoles/tall-boys in the lounge (previously only had two), as well as two large 1920’s ‘coffins’ (previously none). Perhaps restoring them in that Mohawk ‘lounge camouflage’ finish was the answer after all…
