Speaker Grill Cloth alternative ?

I have just finished a Philco Cathedral radio Model 20A . The speaker grill cloth was very dark and faded but still in good condition . I thought to myself there must be another way to save the original grill cloth . I needed the gold colour to pop in the dark colour . I had around a can of rustoleum glitter gold spray can . I lightly sprayed the cloth with splotches of the gold spray . I was a great surprise it looked good ! I saved ordering , time and money on doing this ….. Now I won’t say it will work for a lot of radio cloths but it was what I wanted …. One caution is not to plug up too much of the cloth holes ( you must see through the material for sound to travel through it ……

That’s a great way of dealing with the cloth. I restored a Midwest console and re-dyed the faded to pink cloth with cheap red wine and food color. Worked out great.

Great job …. we have to be inventive these days … parts are getting very expensive and very few to come by…
