Working on a DeForest Crosley 1721/1722. In the attached image antennae connections 3 and 4 allow input from Short Wave and Broadcast depending on how the band switch is set. I don’t understand what connection points 1,2,5,6 are for. In the alignment notes it refers to this as a selective antennae.
    Any comments are welcome.

    Hi Les,
I finished a restoration on a 1721 last November and I also spent a lot of time trying to get my head around the 6 input terminals feeding the antenna coil. I believe the first 4 terminals are assigned as follows:

1 & 4 are for a dipole antenna used for the shortwave band
2 is intended for connection to earth ground
3 is for the long wire antenna for the broadcast band.

I have no idea what 5 & 6 are for. When I received this radio those two terminals were shorted together and I left them that way. Hope someone else can chime in regarding those 2 terminals.

    Jim

Thanks, Jim. The radio I’m working on also had a short across connection 5 an 6.
