Forum ParticipantI have been scouring the internet and written to several sites requesting a schematic for a Grundig receiver so140Ua. At the suggestion of the contact from this site (Don), I am requesting insight from this forum.
I admit to spending many-many hours searching for a schematic. I am down to finding similar models. My search has me believe that models similar to the so141Ua include, SO230u/s and so260u/s. I am coming to the belief that the suffix designates the region that the unit is designed for. U = US as does U/S. CA = Canada and WE = Western Europe. Maybe members of this forum know this already. I am guessing that electronically, Canada and US models are virtually identical. They may differ in the cabinet.
Having written that, a strong hint at being similar to the SO141Ua is the tube count. Mine has twelve.
I will list:
4-EL95
3-ECC83
1-ECC85
1-EF89
1-ECH81
1-EABC80
1-EM84Another differentiator is the power supply and how it is filtered. I assume that since Europe is at 50 Hz that the filter network is different then that used in the US and Canada where AC is at 60 Hz. The triple can capacitor is 8-50-50 uf at 350 volts. The need for a schematic arose from my unit having a component break free. I do not know from where it came and it is burned to be unrecognizable. It is brown and cylindrical. It is either a power resistor or an inductor.
I would appreciate it, if anyone here would advise me as to models that are similar or a resource to obtain the schematic.
I have attached a low-res version of the instruction book for the console. I have a higher quality version, but the file size is rather large.
Thanks,
Frank

CVRS MemberHi Frank,
I have the schematic for an SO141CA but it has only 9 tubes as follows :
EL84 X 2
ECC83 X 2
EABC80
EF89
ECH81
ECC85
EM84The tuner section is probably identical but the 141 has single ended output and the 140 has push-pull.

CVRS MemberAnd digging a bit further, I found a SO120CA with the same tube complement as your SO140Ua.

CVRS MemberFrank, send me a private message with your e-mail. Do you want both models or only the SO120CA ?

Forum ParticipantJean, there is a snafu in the website that inhibits me from joining. I have reported this via email and have been told is it being worked on. This is an FYI.
Thanks,
Frank
