    Thanks Don et al,
With the more than generous gift from fellow member Gordon Dann, I am now fully equipped to attempt my first radio alignment. The Stark came without the test probes and I have been waiting for weeks for them to arrive and they are finally here. I will start with a basic Philco Am only radio and see how it goes, just waiting for a rainy day when I have to play inside. I have also ordered the nylon alignment tool set as they are pretty cheap, so I won’t have to whittle one from a knitting needle or something.

    Gary,
Just for your info, — Anything about most Heathkit stuff should be on one of these 2 sites.

    https://www.vintage-radio.info/heathkit or http://tubularelectronics.com/Heath_Manual_Collection/

The schematic of the IG-72 is there, but little else. It is an audio generator only not an RF signal generator.

By the way, I think as a starting point , one of the voltmeters from Canadian Tire might be worth looking at.
I have purchased the stock number #052-0052-2 on sale and found it very reliable.
It does frequency and can measure capacitors.
Flukes are very nice meters and I have one but the CTC one does a lot of what I need at a lot less money.

Hi , my advise to you Gary if you are buying test equipment and expecting it to work after being told by seller it does work.. Take the time to test before you buy. I bought a tv7 u/a tester in st Johns from a radio guy i thought was trustworthy for big money and had it sent home only to find it does not work. The guy will not even answer a email from me now.
