Forum ParticipantGood evening all, I am helping a friend deal with the estate of her uncle. Don Eaglesham of Calgary passed away in the fall of 2025, leaving behind a collection of antique radio items as well as items accumulated working as a technician in local TV & radio broadcast. I am not a vintage radio enthusiast, but I took high school electronics in the early 1980’s, when we still worked with tubes and computers where new. I did not know Don personally, but I would prefer not to see all of Don’s accumulated treasures swept into a dumpster, so I a reaching out for opinions of whether there is a market/value for some of the items at modest cost and some free as they will require testing and or repair, and may not be the best when working. I have limited photos at this time but will attach a what I have.
What I have seen so far is 3 tube testers; Startk 9-66; Start 8-77, Dyna-Jet
An accumulation of test equipment: signal generators, signal tracers, 2 single trace oscilloscopes, VOMs etc.
An accumulation of radio tubes (no list available) – still finding boxes but roughly 800-1000 pieces. Based on markings a few may go back to WWII
I am told there are TV tubes in the unheated garage, and I expect there is no market for those – Don kept the radio tubes in the house!
Assorted electronic components new & used, a couple of ‘project’ radios with cases that don’t appear to be really special to my untrained eye
There may be a couple of restored radios, but the family members are claiming the best ones for their own household use & memoriesPlease reach out with any advice or interest you may have. We should have a handle on the collection mid to late January and be in a position to set up viewings if anyone is interested. I have registered for notification of replies to come to my email, and will endeavour to check in every day or two for replies.
Happy New Year, and best regards, Ian
