    In the attached image, for the electrolytic caps, what is the polarity?

    Theyr’e drawn to look a bit like a can with a filling, so the outer can is negative. And in the left-hand one, you see that this is connected to ground, as pou’d expect from a large smoothing electrolytic.

    I wondered if the symbol represented a can, but wasn’t sure enough to gamble. The original cans had been removed so I didn’t have much to go on. I’ve not seen that particular symbol for electrolytic capacitors before. Thanks for the help Alistair, much appreciated.
