Hi. I received a few of these with some old radios. Does anyone recognize them? They are not turn signal flashers or radio vibrators. There are no moving parts. They all say Wright 6.3V.

    Evening Rick.

Strange contraption?? That .01 Capacitor, was manufactured by A H Hunt Limited of England. Which possibly tells us this strange unit /s were also possibly made in England. Possibly for Military or Aviation purposes??? As for the WRIGHT name, that could also be related to The Curtiss Wright Company, who were and also and still are very heavily into Militaty Defence Systems and Aviation.

Make a post to UK Vintage Radio (it’s Free) maybe someone there can help identify it for you.

    Regards

    Hi all,

I would respectfully suggest that these are simply Crystal ovens designed to work off 6.3 volts to the enclosed heater.

I have come across lots of these in older equipment.

You nailed it John. Interesting! A Crystal Oscillator Heater. I assume used mostly in Communication Equipment to heat the Crystal so as to stabelize Frequency.

That would be some for sure.
That would be the Cadillac of comms equipment ,Goverment and military.
Some of the high end test equipment such as frequency generators and counters would use the ovens as well.
