Randy
Forum ParticipantHi
somewhat new to site. new to hobby, but been badly bit by the bug. I picked this radio up from the local used web site. talking to the sellers, they said it was in the house they currently live in and when they bought the home, the radio was part of the items that was to be left in the house on purchase. They never did hear it work and it looked in rough shape when I spun it around.
after some parts change and repair of the speaker cone I purchased a new speaker plug, rewiring almost everything from amp to chassis, several caps and a flip of the switch, it came to life.
It’s something else, what a radio. This is a keeper, for sure. beautiful look and sound.

Forum ParticipantHi Randy – you REALLY lucked out – although you might want to get a few smaller radios under your belt before you open that one up. If you google Rogers 10-12 or 10-10 you’ll find more info about your radio – I currently have 2 of them awaitng their turn on the bench. I pretty much know what to expect as I’ve done similar radios in the past , including a couple of Deforest Crosley Buckinghams – which are very similar. Good Luck restoring it – pm me if you need anything.

Forum ParticipantWell – after rereading my post – I don’t know what I was thinking – my comments were appropriate if you hadn’t done it yet.My post should have been before yours – I swear I read your post – but obviously didn’t comprehend – You’re new to vintage radio – you more or less started with a 10-10 and you’re done and it works fine – that almost never happens – did you realign it ? If not – you might be able to make it perform even better.

Forum ParticipantThanks Flipdial, I appreciate your comments. I was trying to post the pics on here, and I dont know if they are visable to others or not. havent figured that out yet. The 10-10 was my third purchase, I started with a Northern electric b559 that had a badly damaged front veneer. I am a bodyman by trade and a handyman by nature. I applied a few basic repair techniqes that I used in my past job and it turned out quite stunning. I refinished it with toned lacquer and cut and polished it, looks nice. This all started a little over a year ago, I have a preference for consoles but have my share of table tops also. (30 or so now). I have been doing 1or 2 every other month depending on the repairs. As with almost anything else I have done, I get a little carried away. The Rogers is my pride and joy, it took some serious schematic reading and a few nights of head scratching. I was elated when it warmed up and came alive. I haven’t realigned it, seems to work nicely and I dont want to mess with it to much.

Forum ParticipantI’m sure everyone would like to see your pics – I haven’t tried posting any myself lately – but usually problems have to do with the pics being too big – the new cameras with their super high resolution create even small pics that have very large file size. you could use a photo editing program to resize them or resave them in a format that takes up less memory. – there may be a posting here on the site that describes all of that.
Your posts don’t indicate where you are – but in the future you might want to let people know so that you can hook up with some other guys for help with realigning – it can make a significant difference – not just with reception – but also with audio distortion. – your radios will sound better.February 15, 2013 at 4:56 am #3831Randy
Forum ParticipantThanks for the info, will check the photo thing out. I’m located east of Regina SK. If I figure out the picture thing I’ll post some of the things I’m working on, latest is a Stromberg Carlson console with magic eye. I also just got a Rogers 7m612 with the teledial operational. First experience with bias cells, now just to reglue the cabinet back togeather and refinish it. Picked that one up from Stan from Assiniboia, SK.
