This homebrew is one of a group I purchased some time ago. I thought I would post a couple of pictures to see if anyone recognizes the circuit that was used in this radio. I can spend some time looking through early magazine schematics but thought that I would try this first.

Yes it is a mess and it is possible that an extra stage of amplification was added.

    Some details–

    Two 17 plate variable caps.
Four bypass caps about 1 mfd.
    Three rheostats.
    Four tubes.
Three coils plus an additional one that looks to be wound as an RF choke, one end attached to the detector A+, the other end loose.
    Federal interstage audio transformer.
Thordarson audio transformer with only plate, grid and B terminals.
    Acme B2 30 henry choke.

Any ideas what a possible design and schematic would be?

    Thanks,

    Ed.
