This is an Electrohome , model Z8A83X-E console.
I have never seen one of these before. The cabinet is in very good condition although I will have to strip and redo it.
Everything [except one cap] is original, under the chassis.
I checked it out and brought it up with a variac and it plays quite good with no hum.
It is made by Electrohome for Eatons, It was a bit difficult to find a schematic but with the schematic I can recap it according to specs.

    Hello Dan
    Evening Dan

This Radio seems to be a strange bird. The name plate clearly says T Eaton Co, The chassis clearly looks North American made????
Did you post the correct pictures? The Radio shown is Clearly a “MINERVA” Model, possibly either built in Germany, by The Carl Lockmann Co. or in Austria, by one Wilhelm Wohleber. Wohleber, started building radios around 1927. He ran afoul of things with the names he chose to manufacturer radios under. Names like Radiola, which was already protected by Trademark by RCA. Other names he used also caused him grief, including the name “Minerva” , which by the way, was already used by Lockmann in Berlin, Germany. That is why I say that the pictures posted could in all probability be of either German or Austrian origin. Could it be that someone, for whatever reason, falsely placed a wrong name plate on your radio. Did you find a proper schematic for it. I suppose that it is possible that Electrohome also used the name Minerva to manufacturer this radio in North America???? We should also remember that Electrohome, being a Kitchener Company, with lots of German connections, seeing that Kitchener it self was once named Berlin. Seems like we may have a riddle here, waiting to be solved.

    Regards

Ralph’ It is made for Eatons, from what I can see . The nameplate has the model number and everything lines up with the schematics
The photos are of the radio, as I have it in my garage.
    Here is the schematic.

The Model # Listed on that schematic of yours is not the same as the Model # you Posted. Also the Number on the Schematic is hard to read. What is stamped on the T Eaton’s, name tag? Where did you download the Schematic from? And there does seem to be some Trademark problems related to the use of the name “Minerva” ??? It seems that your radio was manufactured in 1938. And by the way, the Austrian Radio ndustry, as well most other most other German and Austrian industries were taken over by the Third Reich, during WWII. Apparantly Hitler also used forced slave labour, namely provided by imprisioned Jews. I hope I did not break any site rules by breaching that subject.

I bought the schematic form Steve Johnson

Everything on the schematic matches up with the radio. It plays very good after I changed the capacitors

I have the cabinet all stripped and am using Kwik wood to fill in these areas.
The Kwik wood does not take stain, but in this case it will be covered up with darker lacquer.

    HI Clinton.
i have never seen those knobs before, and I don’t have any of them.
You can try ”gobs of knobs” or” playthings of the past.”

Looks good Dan. I haven’t looked for the knobs for mine. Even your magic eye works.. the one on mine doesn’t.

Clinton;almost every radio I get that has an eye tube———- the eye tube is bad..
I buy eye tubes when I get a chance , but they are getting expensive .
In Canada I have to pay about $50.00 or $60.00 for one tube because of the dollar difference and the shipping.
I have five or 6 new ones until I run out.

I have several that are bad. I did get Gord’s solid state kit and all the parts I need, even a $100 microscope from China. I just have to get busy and put it together.. Or at least attempt it..
