can anyone recognise it? there is no makers name or other info. I thought the box would be good for Peter to use to house his project and that the circuit in this kit might be quite close to that of the intended design.

I have also heard that unassembled kits are quite rare and maybe if all the parts and instructions were there It would actually have more value as an unbuilt kit.

im really not sure of the value. as you can see most of the parts that attech to the front panel were put on but I don’t see the kind of signs one might expect if the radio had been assembled and then parts lost. No empty screw holes etc.

could anyone provide more info ? any opinions on whether this radio should be kept as an UN-assembled kit if that is what it is, or should it become a homebrew project, or should I look for whatever parts are missing?

My guess would be someone’s start on a homebrew radio using salvaged parts. The case looks commercial, the manufacturers piano hinge has been replaced with a pair of standard hinges. They may have been trying to rebuild a radio from whatever was in the case originally.

This looks very similar to an Atwater Kent radio that I have from 1925. However, as you know it is incomplete. It looks like the controls were precision placed, which would be unusual, but not unknown, for a home brew radio. I have no idea if kits were available back then. ALL radios in the mid 20’s looked like kits, but usually the name of the manufacturer would be on the panel, if nowhere else.

My guess is it is a home brew radio that never got completed. I have many projects like that in my shop!
