Once again I’m probably preaching to the choir, but maybe a few CVRS followers don’t know about Billy Pajak of Richer, Manitoba. Billy () has thousands of individual Howard Sams Photofact folders for sale for $4.99 U.S. each, including shipping. These are mint-condition originals — not the often poor-quality photocopies supplied by Sams Technical Publishing for $19.00! I had bought one of Sams Publishing’s copies for my Stromberg-Carlson AWP-8 and was unhappy about the copy quality (put some toner in that Xerox, boys). So I ordered an original from Billy. It got here quicker than the Sams Publishing copy and was a heck of a lot cheaper. The Photofact was very well packaged with a piece of stiff paperboard inside the envelope to prevent bending or folding. Airmail postage cost Billy $2.00, so he isn’t making much on these folders. He has a number of them listed on eBay, but if you Email him at the above address and order direct Billy probably will avoid having to pay the eBay vig.

    Hi, Bob,
Even if you don’t need a Photofact to get your radio up and cooking, it sure helps to have that dial stringing guide when needed. You get to keep your hair! Plus, the parts information with arrows pointing to components and listing their value can come in handy. My aforementioned Stromberg-Carlson is full of Black Beauty capacitors, which you know will be bad. The color bands are pretty much worn off and the Sams saves a LOT of time over figuring out just which cap you are looking for on the schematic.
