Hello, I’m seeking information on this tube from an Emerson radio model# BF 151in order to restore it to playing condition. The radio is in excellent condition. Thank you, Jeenie.

I don’t quite understand the question , you are looking for a "bal" tube? I haven’t hear of this.

Have you found the schematic? what era is the radio? what are the other tube numbers? how did you arrive at the conclusion that this tube is the issue?

oh I guess it is a ballast tube you are looking for.
such as the one described below.

    PLEASE BE CAREFUL !!!!
is this a hot chassis set? if it is don’t touch the chassis with it plugged in !

Look at the schematic for the radiio below. I think yours might be similar . one side of the cord is connected straight to the chassis on this radio. this is very dangerous !!!

Maybe some filter capacitors failed and burned it out. have you changed the capacitors yet?

"The series filament voltage drops add up to 62v, so a ballast tube, type L55BG, is used to drop a further 55 volts so that the filaments can be powered directly from the normal 117v ac supply."

Hi, This is what I needed (the schematic). I was able to locate the part (tube) I needed locally at a CB/Ham radio store for $5. Old "Emmy" is up and running quietly! Now to fabricate a shortwave antenna. Thank you ever so much, Jeenie
