I have usually just put the wax caps in molten wax in order to get them up to temp so the innards can be pushed out with the end of a pencil. I find it is easy to re-stuff those paper shells. I have heard of instances of people thought re-stuffed caps were original and then went about replacing them. I like that the original values are still marked on the paper sleeve so I usually do it that way.
Now when it comes to restuffing the cans. I have done it but I am starting to rethink this process because I don’t trust the new electrolytics to pass the test of time. my opinion is that the mylars and the orange drops will last, but those new style electrolytics may only last 10 years and that means some other bloke will probably be dealing with them, so maybe it is preferable to just clip the leads and put the cans under the chassis? at least one can see if they look “pregnant”
