is this a hot chassis set? if it is don’t touch the chassis with it plugged in !

Look at the schematic for the radiio below. I think yours might be similar . one side of the cord is connected straight to the chassis on this radio. this is very dangerous !!!

Maybe some filter capacitors failed and burned it out. have you changed the capacitors yet?
