This looks very similar to an Atwater Kent radio that I have from 1925. However, as you know it is incomplete. It looks like the controls were precision placed, which would be unusual, but not unknown, for a home brew radio. I have no idea if kits were available back then. ALL radios in the mid 20’s looked like kits, but usually the name of the manufacturer would be on the panel, if nowhere else.
My guess is it is a home brew radio that never got completed. I have many projects like that in my shop!
