Well with the help of Peter Heembrock, I made a lot of head a way [at least peter did.] Peter is a member of this forum .
and he suggested I connect an 80 ohm 5 watt resistor between the negative of the main caps to the chassis ground.
That worked very well and the MP3 played works. After I found that the voltages on the plates of the 6F6 tubes came up to where it should be.
I took out the resistor and using Ralph’s suggestion I installed the sensitivity switch. The voltages there are about -7 volts [good].
Now I can hear the slight CLICK when I change the band switch. The turning of the volume control also makes a noise in the speaker.

I don’t get any station yet, but some headway has been made.
