Hey John, I think you are correct on the R6 model by RCA. Both G E and RCA had a close relartionship in those days. But they were not married. Up until 1929 RCA was only involved in the marketing of radios. It was not until shortly after 1929 that they got into building Radios. However, the tight relationship with G E continued with the sharing of models and designs, under different Model numbers. RCA had the same relationship with Canadian Westinghouse, I just looked at the picture of the cabinet for Peter’s radio and that of the R-6, and it too is quite similar in looks. You may be on to something here.
