I am not certain why no-body picked-up on this one or has not responded to your dilema. This is not a wire wound resistor. It is a piece of shielded cable to the volume control or tone control. As it is just a piece of shielded cable you need only to be certain that it is not OPEN (broken). One example of a wire wound resistor would be the long red resistor with the green end. But there are othern types.
