Hi Peter. Yes, the Silver-Marshall company dissolved in 1932, and McMurdo then quickly set up a new radio company, McMurdo Silver Inc. By late-1932, he introduced the first of a line of high-end receivers, the ‘Masterpiece’ (MP) – to some extent competing with Scott. This line eventually included six models, each building on the technical advancements of the previous, culminating in the MP VI in 1937, followed by a couple of related lower-cost offerings. The receivers were manufactured by either Hallicrafters or Howard and then inspected, set-up and aligned at McMurdo’s own ‘radio laboratory’. I have an MPVI – articles on this can be found on the SPARC website here and here. The second article provides a brief description of each of the Masterpiece models. I will see if I can find any info on the SM ‘Duchess’ model.
