Bill Burns visits SPARC museum

Bill Burns of Long Island, NY, visited Coquitlam a couple of weeks ago on his way to an Alaskan Cruise. Bill owns and maintains the Atlantic Cable website, and is considered expert in all things cable. He was interested in seeing first hand the artifacts from the Bamfield Cable Station that are stored, mostly in boxes, at SPARC. We spent the day of June 27 at the museum, courtesy of members Brian and Gary who made items accessible for us. Burns is very knowledgeable about the functioning of various cable instruments, and since as he says, cable operators never threw anything away, he was delighted to find several generations of cable technology on the site. Bill has generously offered to help us if we ever undertake a more accessible exhibit of the Bamfield gear.
